Psalm 46:10 – “Be still and know I am God”
Have you ever felt you are trying too hard to hear from God. Always wondering what’s next? Who should I contact, what plans should I be making, where should I be gong? In these times, of what may seem to be desperation, God is sitting back waiting on us to catch up to him. He tells to “Be still.” Being still doesn’t seem to be a natural state of human function, yet this is an instruction in which God concisely gives us.
Many times, we are in a hurry to get here or go there anticipating our next move. We need to quiet ourselves and just listen. I know this may be a new concept to many, but take a seat, quiet yourself, remove all distractions. Open your heart to what God wants to place in there. Let Him fill your thoughts.
We don’t have to allow our minds to run willy nilly about jumping from one thought to another. Take a coupe deep breaths and listen; quietly! If you can’t seem to accomplish this, gather up your Bible, open the pages and read. You don’t have to spend hours on this task, just soak in God’s word and then allow it to permeate your thought processes. If you do this a few times a week or better yet, each day, you will soon be able to begin to quiet yourself and open yourself to receive from God. Ask Him to help you to become still. He most certainly will. He will put dreams into your heart. He will give you fresh ideas. Let Him guide and direct your day.
Do you have a favorite spot for quiet time?
